Reflecting on 2018

2018 has 100% been the fastest year of my life and I felt like if I blinked I would have missed it. I can’t quite believe the year is over and we are well into 2019. I thought I would share with you my 2018, it included new experiences, friendships, laughter and also tears.

To be honest, not a lot happened in January, after the busyness of Christmas, it was more a relaxing month despite the odd Uni assignments and New Year celebrations. It was nice to reunite with all of my friends from Uni again and we celebrated with a night out, which included seeing Yxng Bane perform in Viper.

In February me and Ben celebrated our 2 year anniversary. It just so happened to land in the week I had off uni and when he was coming to see me, so we were very lucky to spend it together. I took him to the Ice Bar in London as one of his presents and he treated me to a meal at Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant on the night. We had such a fun day, the ice bar was such a cool experience and I would definitely go again and the meal was delicious!

March included celebrating a few of my uni friends birthdays. For my friend Asa’s birthday, we headed to Ballie Ballerson’s in Central. It was such a fun night and was one of the best bars I have ever been to. Who doesn’t love getting drunk and jumping into a ball pit? Check out my post here all about this night. As well as this I headed back home in the North East for Easter. It was so nice to see all my family and friends again, even if it was only for 2 weeks.

April was when our red hot Summer officially started. We were so blessed in 2018 to have a long hot Summer and 30 degree heat in April is so rare in the UK. I got the chance to spend a lot of time with my friends down by the river, enjoying the sun and drinks. It was so much fun! April was also when I officially finished my first year of Uni. First year went over in a flash, and I can’t believe I am already nearly finished my 2nd year.

May began the beginning of my 4 month Summer, yes how crazy is this!! A lot different to the 6 weeks I am use to. But before this, me and all of my uni friends celebrated with 1 last night out before we all headed back home and wouldn’t get to see each other for 2 months!!! Sean Kingston just so happened to come to our local night club, so of course this was the perfect night out to end first year.

June was another month were not a lot happened. I just got the chance to enjoy my Summer and spend time with family and friends.

July was such a busy month for me and a lot of exciting things happened. I started off the month by jetting off to Rome for mine and Ben’s first holiday together. It was such an amazing holiday getting the chance to see all the famous landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. I felt like all my Lizzie McGuire dreams came true. The weather was also red hot when we were there, with highs of 40 most days! I then travelled to Kent in the middle of the month, to celebrate my friend Demi’s birthday. It was such a fun weekend away and so nice to see my uni girls again. We ended the weekend heading back to London to pick up the keys to our new home for 2nd year. I then ended July celebrating my 19th birthday. I actually went to a wedding on the day of my birthday, so I got the chance to get all dressed up.

August included another wedding, a family trip away and also the end of my long hot Summer. Ben’s cousin got married the beginning of August and we were kindly invited to the evening do. I got to get all dressed up (like a spanish dancer) and got very Gin drunk. I then headed off for a few days away in a caravan with my parents and sisters. It just so happened to land at the same time as my sisters 18th birthday, so we all got the chance to celebrate her birthday while we were away. Whilst away we visited a zoo, in which we got the chance to feed giraffes, went to a pottery and crafts place in which we got to paper mache and decorate pottery and also visited Bowes Museum. I ended the month by heading back to Uni to move into my little home with my Uni friends!!

September started by living in our house for the first time. It was a whole lot of fun to be living with my besties for the first time. In the middle of the month, I headed back home for the weekend to surprise Ben for his birthday. I took him Glamping for the night, which was fab and nice to relax together for 2 days. Read all about our time away here. The month ended with officially starting my 2nd year of Uni. I can’t actually believe I am sat here, having nearly finished my 2nd year, Uni has certainly flown by so far. Plus I went dark again!!

At the end of October Ben came to visit me for a few days. Unfortunately I ended up being ill the whole time, however we still managed to get out and about the house. I took Ben to the National History Museum for the first time and we explored Chelsea together. You can check out our day out here. We also went to see Bohemian Rhapsody in the cinema, which was incredible!! It was nice to spend a few days together, despite being ill and we cherish the time we get together as it’s very rare.

November started by celebrating Bonfire Night. I absolutely love Bonfire Night and Fireworks, so of course I suggested we should have a party to celebrate. We bought party food and sparkles to celebrate the occasion and it was a fun night with all my besties. In the middle of the month me and my friend Demi went to see Raye perform in KoKo London on her first ever tour. She is honestly incredible live and her stage presence is just as amazing as her voice. The atmosphere in the room was insane and a few tears were even shared. I ended the month by watching the Christmas Light Switch on in town with some of my dance girls, one of my friends from back home came to visit me for the weekend and a dancers Christmas meal and night out.

I ended the year with a lot of festive fun.

If you have reached the end of this lengthy post, then I congratulate you. 2018 was such a great year and I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings.

What was your 2018 highlights?

Thanks for reading!

  1. It seems like you had such a good 2018 and did so much! Congratulations on celebrating 2 years with your boyfriend and having almost finished your 2nd year of University. I remember 2nd year being the hardest for me as 3rd year was mostly dissertation whereas 2nd year was a lot of lectures and exams. Thankfully still managed to pass though. Hopefully 2019 is a good of a year! xx
