2 Years Together: Our Story

Last Saturday, the 17th February me and Ben celebrated our 2 year anniversary. I have never really talked about Ben or our relationship on my blog before so I thought I would share our story of how we met.

(One of our first photos together, as you can tell I was clearly excited)

The beginning of February 2016 is when we met through mutual friends at college. Me and my friend used to head to Starbucks every morning before college to get a drink. This one morning we were meeting up with some of her friends she had made, one of these being Ben,  in order for me to meet them before the weekend, as she was having a little house party. We probably only said “Hey” this day and I couldn’t even remember what he looked like by the time the weekend rolled around. On either the Friday or Saturday, my friend had her house party and I was the first to arrive , which was great as I was a little nervous even though I had briefly meet them all. The night was great, and it was the first time me and Ben had properly spoke after alcohol was consumed of course and we hit it off straight away. It felt so natural between us and the conversation kept flowing as though we had known each other for years. We told each other so much, which was crazy for the first time we had actually spoken (I blame that on the alcohol) and we may have shared a kiss or 2. After the night was over I didn’t really know what was gonna happen between us, I had given him my Snap chat and we added each other on Facebook but I had no idea if he would message me the next day or if we would just remain friends.

The next morning I woke to a Snapchat message from him asking how I was feeling, and I was secretly happy inside as I knew I fancied him. We end up talking all day and I gave him my number and things just went from there. The next week we went on a coffee date to a cute little cafe called Flat White in one of our frees and then at the weekend he took me on a date to Ask Italian for Valentines day. This was the first time we both met each others parents, which I was so nervous about, as my parents took us there and his picked us up. However, I felt so much more at ease after meeting them, as they were both so lovely. On Wednesday the 17th February, he came round my house for the day and as we were chilling on the couch watching How To Make A Murderer, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I of course said yes. So, this is were the start of our relationship begun after only 3 weeks of knowing each other (some may think we are crazy).

We have had many ups and downs, lots of adventures and new experiences, a hella of a lot of fun and I couldn’t imagine spending it with anyone else. He keeps me sane, makes me so very happy, is a shoulder to cry and also a pain in the ass at times, but that’s why I love him.

In September 2017, started the beginning of our Long Distance Relationship, as I moved from the North East to London for university. It has been a challenging time for us living over 200 miles apart, but it’s also been a whole lot easier than we both thought and the time we do get to spend together, which is very rare, is appreciated. We have so many exciting things planned this year including our first holiday together in the summer to Rome which Ben very kindly paid for as part of my Christmas present. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our relationship and here is to another year with him by my side.

I hope you liked this different style of post and if you would like any posts on LDR advice or tips and tricks then do let me know.

Thanks for reading!
