You have probably seen this foundation circling around the blogging community ever since the day it was released and I was kindly gifted this by Influenster over a month ago now so have put it to the test ever since. I find foundations one of the most important and vital parts of my makeup routine and I always want something that I know will last, provides with me a good amount of coverage and has a great shade range so I don’t either look like Caspar the Ghost or an Oompa Loompa. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation (gosh that was a mouthful) claims to provide a medium coverage, which is easily buildable, a breathable technology that moisturises your skin and supposedly lasts for up to 25 hours, yet are these claims true?
This foundation definitely does as it claims to, it provides a medium coverage which blurs any spots or imperfections yet doesn’t completely mask my skin making it appear cakey or heavy. It is also lightweight, so it hardly even feels as though you are wearing any makeup which is an added bonus on the days in which you don’t feel like it but still what some coverage. It is easily buildable which means that if you want a more full coverage look for a night out or a special occasion, then you can always put another layer of foundation over the top.
Although the coverage is great, the longevity certainly doesn’t last 25 hours even though who would even wear foundation that long anyway, I know I certainly wouldn’t. It lasts quite a while, however I start to notice it begins to go oily around my t-zone very easily which means I have to continue to powder and comes away in certain areas of my face. I don’t know if it’s just because I have oily skin, so it doesn’t suit well for my skin type or if it’s just the formula of the product. For this reason it’s better for everyday wear.
This foundation doesn’t oxide either and is a perfect match for my pale skin. There is nothing worse than a foundation that isn’t true to it’s shade and turns darker, especially for someone like me who is as white as a sheet. As for the applicator of this product I really don’t know how I feel. It makes it easy to apply the foundation in one way as you just apply it straight onto your face, however it’s very unhygienic and I just kind of wish it had a pump applicator instead. I think it’s because I am use to pump applicators as most of my foundations have them.
Overall, I am pleased with this foundation and I have been enjoying wearing it over the past couple of weeks. I like how it’s good coverage, easily buildable and lightweight, yet I do wish the longevity was much better and that it didn’t go oily around my t-zone. For a drugstore foundation, I will totally continue to wear this as I enjoy Rimmel foundations and the lasting finish range and for £8.99 you can’t really complain.
Have you tried this foundation, what were your thoughts?
